My main issue was getting a “food burn” message twice. After the first time, I cancelled the cooking (it had been in the pre-cook stage for a while), scraped the bottom clean, and added 6 more ounces of water before starting over, adjusting the time to 12 minutes.

The instapot chugged along for another stretch, before giving me a 2nd “food burn” message. The food was definitely sticking and overcooking, so I scraped it clean again, tested it, and concluded it was cooked enough.

I concluded that the 2 cups of soup stock (plus the liquid in the diced tomatoes) wasn’t enough for the 1-1/2 cups of red lentils. I’ll make it again because the flavors are good, but I’ll try a 2-to-1 ratio of liquid to lentils next time. Given this is a soup, soupy is okay.

I’m interested if anyone else has had this issue. My instapot defaults to “high,” which is what I used. Should this be cooked on “low?” Thanks!
